Each semester the College of Marin Foundation provides awards to Alpha Gamma Sigma students. Three of the awards are for Academic Achievement and three are for Excellence in Service at College of Marin or in the broader Marin County community. In order to be considered for any of the awards, members must follow all of the application procedures and deadlines and meet the specific award criteria. Criteria for each of the awards follows.

AGS Academic Achievement Award
1) Completion of at least 30 graded, college level units;
2) Cumulative GPA of 3.75;
3) Current, active AGS member for a minimum of two semesters;
4) A typed 500 word essay on the topic “What do the qualities of good judgment, knowledge and good character mean to you? How have you exhibited them in your life?”
Academic Achievement Award(s)
1) Completion of at least 30 graded, college level units;
2) Cumulative GPA of 3.50;
3) Current, active AGS member for a minimum of one semester;
4) A typed 500 word essay on the topic “What do the qualities of good judgment, knowledge and good character mean to you? How have you exhibited them in your life?”
2nd Academic Achievement Award
1) Completion of at least 18 graded, college level units;
2) Cumulative GPA of 3.50;
3) Current, active AGS member for a minimum of one semester;
4) A typed 500 word essay on the topic “What do the qualities of good judgment, knowledge and good character mean to you? How have you exhibited them in your life?”
Excellence in Service Award(s)
1) Completion of at least 30 graded, college level units;
2) Minimum number of 30 service points;
3) Current, active AGS member for a minimum of two semesters;
4) A typed 500 word essay on the topic “How my service to the College of Marin or broader Marin County community has affected my life and the lives of those I have served.”
5) Prelim. AGS Points Sheet detailing your service.
2nd Service Award
1) Completion of at least 15 graded, college level units;
2) Minimum number of 25 service points;
3) Current, active AGS member for a minimum of one semester;
4) A typed 500 word essay on the topic “How my service to the College of Marin or broader Marin County community has affected my life and the lives of those I have served.”
5) Prelim. AGS Points Sheet detailing your service.

There are additional scholarships awarded at the State AGS conference. Although its deadline has passed, four-year colleges have set aside special scholarships for AGS members. Please contact an AGS advisor for more information. |
