As students, we juggle school, work, family, and friends and often we feel that we don't have enough time in our busy schedules to breathe, let alone to help others. Service enhances our lives and lets us give something back for the privilege of pursuing an education. We strongly encourage you to engage in any kind of volunteer work you enjoy and, although you earn AGS service points for your efforts, your real reward is knowing you have done something important- contributing to the health of our world.

At Alpha Gamma Sigma, we believe that community service teaches us to look outside of our immediate circles and realize that we are part of a larger picture; we are all responsible for the well-being of our towns, our state, our country, and our world.

Community Service (6 points minimum, NO MAX)

2pts/hr	Volunteer work in the community, including class fieldwork and training
Community Involvement (6 points minimum, NO MAX.):
2 pts	Voting in student government or state/local election
1 pt/hr	Participating in study groups or volunteer tutoring
2 pts	Attending march, protest, rally, parade or farmers market
10 pts	Serving as a board member in a College of Marin club or society
10 pts	Serving on a Student Government related Committee
10 pts	Donating blood during the Blood Drive
1 pts	Soliciting a donor for the Blood Drive

AGS Service (6 points minimum, NO MAX)

20 pts	Serving as an AGS board member
5 pts	Serving on an AGS committee, i.e. Events Committee
1 pt per meeting	Attending MANDATORY AGS meetings IN PERSON (watching video = NO Point)
2 pts per hour	Setup and cleanup for AGS events
2 pts per hour	Working at the AGS orientation/information tables
5 pts	Set up or clean up AND Participating in the Teacher Appreciation Dinner
2 pts per $10	Donating materials or supplies for an AGS event
2 pts per dozen	Donating baked goods for AGS event

College and Cultural Activities (6 points minimum, NO MAX)

15 pts	Attending the AGS State Conference
10 pts	Attending other educational conferences
1 pt	Buying an ASCOM student ID card
2 pts per event	Ushering an AGS-approved event
2 pts per event	Attending an educational, cultural, or social event*

*The following events qualify: museum visits, campus tours, on-campus club meetings, AGS social events, lectures, plays, concerts, etc. If you plan to attend other events that you think should qualify for points, please get the approval of the Board and we will be happy to consider it. Please submit a program, ticket stub, receipt or other AGS board-approved proof of attendance at a non-AGS sponsored event attached to your point records for verification.

	Be creative! There are many other ways to earn points. Are you artistic? Good with computers? Great at fundraising? Design your own point program and have it approved by the Board.
